Kilombero Network of Conservation Champions (KNCC) held a two-day working meeting on March 5–6, 2026 at the Ecological Monitoring Centre hall in Mang’ula. The meeting aimed to discuss and plan strategies for continuing and strengthening the activities of the network.
Speaking during the meeting, the Chairperson of the network, Ibrahim Ismail Ndembo, a Natural Resources Officer from the Morogoro Regional Office, said the purpose of the meeting was to receive feedback on activities that have already been implemented. During the meeting, conservation champions from different institutions that form the network are also participating in various activities, including tree planting in the Nyerere–Udzungwa corridor and visiting the Ikwambi River, which has already undergone environmental restoration activities carried out by the network.
Furthermore, through the meeting, KNCC members outlined various responsibilities they will undertake to continue advancing environmental conservation efforts in the Kilombero Valley.
These responsibilities form part of a joint plan aimed at ensuring conservation activities succeed, with every member of the network actively participating in their implementation.
KNCC member Everister Kessy stated that through this participation, members expect to continue serving as conservation ambassadors within the community while leaving a positive mark in protecting and restoring the environment of the valley.
The Kilombero Valley Conservation Champions Network was established in 2024 with the goal of strengthening and sustaining environmental conservation efforts, connecting conservation stakeholders, restoring natural vegetation and water sources, and promoting sustainable agriculture in the Kilombero Valley.
