PURPOSE OF KNCC

Participatory management of the Kilombero landscape aims to bring together relevant stakeholders and facilitate dialogue that balances the interests of key actors in the region.

The primary mechanism for achieving this is through the Champions Network, where information and experiences are shared to reach consensus and develop effective solutions to challenges related to environmental conservation, land use, wildlife protection, and water sources.

Past experience has shown that the Champions Network has successfully built capacity, identified priority goals, major threats, indirect threats, and strategies for transformation within the landscape.

This network promotes inclusion, mutual understanding, collaboration, and innovation. Its goal is to benefit smallholder farmers, pastoralists, fishers, artisanal miners, large-scale investors, conservation experts, and others by enabling coordinated efforts among stakeholders at community, regional, and national levels.

The Champions Network can help stakeholders strengthen joint efforts in environmental conservation and sustainable practices, thereby deepening understanding of existing challenges and identifying the best solutions.

Goal 17 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) emphasizes Partnerships for the Goals, aiming to enhance implementation methods and revitalize global partnerships for sustainable development. Through this Champions Network, collective efforts will ensure that every development goal is achieved.
